Fork swap from an '86 c10 to an '93 c10
« on: June 09, 2012, 05:05:08 pm »
Just was wondering if it is possible to swap the forks from my '86  concours-56K miles, to the '93 concours-34K miles, that I just bought.  The '86, I think, has had the forks done.  I believe that since the shocks work well without any air in them.  Still a nice firm ride.  The '93 shocks without any air in them compress completely with just my weight. I put air in them, but they are still soft. I am guessing they at least need an oil change. Maybe springs switched out.

So my question is it possible to just switch my forks from one bike to the other. the '86's air fill is on the right and the '93 is on the left is the only difference I can see.

Yes, the forks are essentially identical between the '86 and '93.  You can just swap the fork tubes without removing the triple clamps.
