Slingblade hit the nail on the head, counter-steering puts you in an excellent start position so you don't have to lean as much.
If you don't have time to do it right, when do you have time to do it over.                                                                17" wheels, Nissin 4 piston calipers.1kg Sonic Springs.Cartridge Fork Emulators. KB Brace. Galfer brake lines  Free power mod.

Power through the turns, relax on the straights, that way my cruiser buddies can catch up. :motonoises:
 :rotflmao:

I do the same thing.  anyone can go fast in a straight line.  Often I even speed up in turns.   :motonoises:

His most important statement was   *DON'T try to keep-up with others - ride your own ride...

I do the same, play in the curves, cruise in the straights.
Safer and I've learned that radar traps are normally in the straights, not the curves.. <sly grin>

As I said in other posts, I'm not Roger racer, but I do keep up pretty good.
If someone goes too fast for my comfort zone, I let them go.

Getting back to the tire,,,,
Different tires have a big effect on "How much tire" you use.
When I ride with Belted tires, I go to (maybe past) the edge. When I have radials, I leave a chicken strip.
The bike "turn in"  is much different Belted to Radial as well.

To me, the radials are the way to go if you play in the curves. But some riders (Jim S for instance) can ride a (belted) Pilot GT thru the curves amazingly...

Ride safe, Ted
