Other than Avon, are there any other radials?
Not even sure that Dunlop still makes one?

Sorry, didn't mean to stray from performance. I really liked the Avons when they were on the bike, it handled nicely. Although if you have lots of highway to slay for commuting, a long life tire can be real nice and you lean her right over as well.

No problem.

I'm hoping the new Avon won't flatten so quickly when we have to spend a lot of time on the highway getting to the "peg scraping" roads.   :)

I think you can still get the Stock Dunlops.  Somebody correct me if I'm wrong.  They were great in their day, but they sure cupped up front quickly, causing head shake.  With my Azaro problems I've contemplated going back to the stock Dunlops, but I'll have to try the new Avons before doing that.

The Dunlop K700 rear is what yer all thinking of.
It's not that good a tyre. Was good in 1986 but that was nearly 30 years ago.

Apart from the Avon you can still find Pirelli Sport Demons in 150/80-R16 as well as the occasional D205 but these will all be old tyres now.
I'm hoping that the new Storm 3D X-M will actually be available in the C10 rear size.
On the UK site it does NOT show that size and they only list the Azaro in a radial for the c10 rear.

I'd be happy enough with the Azaro, if quality control could be improved.

However, the Sport Demons are a bias tire and not a radial.  Nonetheless they are a sticky, nice riding bias tire.  Short on life, but long on pleasure.

The National Committee are working on having a Tire Changer WITH the new Storm 3D X-M (and others) available. (C-10 and C-14)
They will not stock a lot of tires, but will have some available for those than unexpectantly need a tire,,,,,,,,,,,

NOTE: I think you can pre-order a tire so that the new Tire will be there when you arrive.   ;)

I'm not sure how many of us could arrange to "need" a new tire when you arrive,,, but it is an option.

I'll be at the National rally with my Azaro on the rear.  It's nice to know if this one comes apart I'll have something local for a replacement!   :))

.. now it sounds like Avon is coming out with a new tire that will improve upon the Azaro!  I need a tire that sticks in the wet and dry.  I'll ride the Gold Wing with E3s if I wants tires that last.   :)

Did you wind up getting the new Avon Storm 3D X-M tires?  How are they?   (Sorry... It's late and I've been reading threads for too long and don't have the energy to search to see if this is answered elsewhere...  ???  )

When this thread was last posted, it seems like Avon hadn't come out w/ a rear yet but according to http://www.americanmototire.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=33_61_1079, they have both front and rear now in the C-10 stock size(s).  I am riding an Azaro on the rear like you had (have 4600 miles on it since mid-May) and am needing to get a new front.  Was planning on going w/ the usual Storm 2 Ultra but noticed that the 3D X-M is available.  I'll be calling Avon in the morning to find out if I can put the X-M on the front w/ the "mis-matched" Azaro rear.   The current rear I have seems to be in good shape, w/ no issues...  Got nearly 10K miles out of the prior rear tire... Sides were still good (even though I TRY to wear them down on the twisties  :motonoises: ) but the center was nearly bald (too many miles commuting on slab for work) (Solo rider, not usually super heavily loaded)

Just looking to see what you wound up doing as it's been a few months.  Read your thread on the failures (scary stuff! I'll certainly be keeping an eye on mine and checking the "mfg. date" on it!) but I really like the handling of the Avons and since I have the rear already (and it should have plenty of more miles on it (knocking wood), I'd like to have something reasonably matching on the front.

Thanks for any update/thoughts you may have.   :)
