pitted upper fork tubes. 99 connie

Completely rebuilding a 99 connie that was given to me by a friend. The left upper fork tube is pitted pretty bad  what are my option for finding a replacement. Also i need the top cap, PO stripped it on the right side but.luckily.only the left was leaking.

The most economical option is to buy a good used fork or set of forks.  This will take care of both issues at a reasonable cost.  They come up for sale frequently on Ebay or look for a wrecker in your area.  The upper tubes and top cap are interchangeable from 1994 thru 2006 and the lower tubes are the same from 1994 thru 1998, then they are the same from 1999 thru 2006.  The 1999 thru 2006 had a machined boss on the lower tube for a fork guard.

The upper tubes are available new, but they aren't cheap, about $200.  The top cap is available for about $30 new.  Ron Ayers is a good online source:
