Shock oil leak questions
« on: October 08, 2013, 01:11:38 am »
If all the oil has leaked out of the shock, would it be blatantly obvious even in "normal" riding conditions?
It is holding air, so could that mask the condition in regular riding?

Long version - couldn't track down an oil leak.  Some film on the slim air box drain tube - wiped it off.  Weeps occasionally.   Never a puddle in the air box - but about half the bottom is covered in film.   Have never overfilled the motor oil.

The oil drips have pretty much ceased.  Wondering if all the oil has drained out of shock - that's where it "looked" like it was leaking from, but know it could have been from the air box tube.  I feel the bike is a little rougher riding when pushed - but also know that it could just be in my head.  It also may be a little squirrely in fast turns - but the tire is pretty gone.

Looking for ideas before I start buying stuff I don't need.  BTW - motor mounts are good.

Believe me if there is no oil in your shock you will no it.
Just bonce on the bike if it keeps rebounding there is no damping.
Check the small hose on the bottom of the air box, if not seated
if will mist oil and look like a leak.
I assume this is a C-10 if not then discard my responce.
