Just starting to take plastic off this afternoon:
  1. Valve Clearance Inspection / Adjustment
  2. Spark Plugs
  3. Coolant Change
  4. OEM Air Filter
  5. Healtech Quickshifter
  6. Penske going in for Rebuild
If idle is good after valve clearance adjustment will likely skip the sync.

1: Valves w/plugs if I get to it.
2: Coolant
3: Brake and Clutch fluids
4: Rear Brake pads.
5: Air filter if needed

1. Removed all the 10% ethanol pump gas, filled with 91 octane ethanol free aviation gas (MOGAS) from a local airfield, treated the gas with STA-BIL storage blend before I put it in the tank.
2. Clean the battery connections and the ground to the frame.
3. ECU has been sent to Steve at Shoodabeen for MRP flash.

I installed some new Drivers Foot pegs, Thankfully I don't have to winterize & will ride all winter !

1.Wheels off now for new PR4 GT's.
2. New TPMS batteries from Fred.
3. Drill the ZX14 fork leg for abs.
4. Shock rebuild?
5. New brake pads
6. Garmin setup.
7. More polished aluminum!

Yesterday changed engine oil & filter, final gear oil, and air filter. Soon, will be changing brake pads.

They are Kuryakyn ISO pegs, I used Kuryakyn Kawasaki male mount peg adapters. I had to grind the male mounts a bit to get the pegs to sit flat. Even thou the peg mount adapters are for Kawasaki they are not specific for the Concours & without grinding the pegs are angled up. These are 1,000 times more comfortable than stock. I may look into mounts that will lower the pegs a bit.

If your having the shock rebuilt, the forks should be done as well

We strapped my sons C-10 to the workbench and started on a carb rebuild yesterday.
{Something wrong with the choke/enricher}.

Ride safe, Ted

Finished all of this in mid-December...
  1. Valve Clearance Inspection / Adjustment
  2. Spark Plugs
  3. MOB cam sensor o-ring upgrade
  4. Coolant Change
  5. OEM Air Filter
  6. grease and tighten steering stem bearings
  7. Updated Ivan's ECU flash to version B2
  8. Install R&G radiator guard
  9. Install APE manual cam chain adjuster
  10. Install MCCruise cruise control
  11. Throttle body sync check (didn't need adjusting)

Located Eastern PA. Not a region known for the finest road quality - suspensions take a beating here.

Installed Rifle 19" Windscreen, already had the base and changed the oil for first time after having shop install the SOOFAK. Using KN -024 filter short and Valvoline MC 10/40W.

Is this a big project for you? Too many layers of rubber balls and road grime under the machine?

Always nice jumping on a freshly cleaned bike though!
Well it is not that bad, but the last couple times I rode it in late Nov/early Dec. it was wet/rainy...so it has a 'patina'. May install the battery this weekend and go 'riding dirty' as it is calling for dry and 40. Needs oil and filters in March then will be good to go!

New set of risers from Advanced Sport Touring. Just what the doctor ordered. I'm short with not so long arms and that forward lean was giving me some trouble.

Gonna try some electrical tasks. I believe I have figured out how to connect the
grip warmers from PO. Also gonna do the power mode on the igniter module and
if these two go right will look into installing a switch at the front of Connie for future
electrical needs and a good front to back cleaning. Also have ordered lowering links and will have shop install those. Also thinking about changing out OEM petcock for manual one.
These are what I am used to no first Suzuki and its cheap insurance against hydro. Plus can drain carbs easier (I think) and might slow down any thief who dont know about manual petcocks

The family went back home after Christmas, so in the past couple days, I've been able to catch up on things.

I knew I'd traveled a few miles last year ...not quite 15,000...but I didn't put that thought alongside my oil change schedule. Looks like I went about 10K on the oil. The bike doesn't use any, but it was longer than I wanted to do. So the oil was changed. I had a nagging leak in the rear tire, so when the kids went back to their homes, I put the tire into the bathtub. The puncture was extremely small...but was still a puncture. I did a mushroom plug repair on it, and it seems to be holding air.

The bike was filthy. It doesn't make sense to wash it all the time in the winter because of the rain. But I had to pull some panels off to replace the power cord on my Garmin Zumo XT. So the bike got washed and the power cord replaced. Looks like I'll have to do it again. Even though I had power to the pins on the mount, it didn't show a charge on the display. So Garmin is sending me a complete new GPS.

And since I had the panels off, I used my air compressor to blow the sand and gravel that finds it's way into all the nooks and crannies under the panels. Put the panels back on, and waxed the bike.

It sure looked pretty today when I went to the Damascus House, Trader Joes and Costco.

It rains tomorrow, so the bike looking pretty won't last.

How do you mount the Zumo? Factory accessory or a Garmin mount? TYIA

Even though the shine of your machine will not last it does feel nice for those few days.

Good deal on Garmin.

@chrispero
I'm using a RAM handle bar mount that the XT Mountint Plate attaches to. This places it slightly above the left side controls. Power is connected to an aftermarket power distribution fuse box under right side fairing. I think you are somewhat nearby - I'm sure we can arrange to meet up so you can see it. Contact me off forum.

Thanks man. Yea I'm in Ledyard. Will definitely wanna meet up this season.

2012 with 75,000 miles, nothing huge :
-Lube and adjust throttle cable, disassemble at throttle grip to lube
-Front fork fluid(7W) and seals, also inspect Race Tech valving to ensure all is good
-Flush all brake and clutch fluids
-TPMS batteries, will try to do myself, back up plan will be to send to Fred
-Gonna redo the clearcoat on the tank. Purchased a "more scratch resistant urethane". There is a slight chance of this going bad
-Front pads, and clean the calipers. Had a slight pulse late last year.
-Maybe replace the 5 year old battery, on the fence right now

Added two small convex mirrors for fuller coverage of whats trying to sneak up behind me and a deer whistle. I have used these in the past and
have passed a herd of deer that stopped to determine where I was coming from. Riding it till it hits reserve so I can try the mechanical fix to the
fuel level sensor and also replace washers on petcock to see if that helps with very minor gas leak. Got my Soupy lowering links. Will drop them off at the shop and schedule a time for install. I think I will attempt to adjust the center stand myself. They should be able to adjust the side stand for me.

If idle is good after valve clearance adjustment will likely skip the sync.
Finally got to the cylinder head cover today; work (fortunate to be busy), chores / priorities have delayed progress.

Quite the job; took plenty of disassembly pictures but given my sporadic time to wrench I suspect final assembly will be a bit challenging having forgotten the sequence to primarily wiring and that lovely rubber blanket and cowling.

As for what I did ...it was a couple days ago, but I pulled the Continental RoadAttack 3 tires and installed Dunlop Roadsmart 4 tires.

The Conti's came up with a tiney tiny puncture that was leaking a bit of air. I tried to repair it, but no joy. So since they were so close to the wear bars, I went ahead and changed them.

I’m building a new luggage rack to mount my BMW top box to my C14 for a trip south in early spring. I’ll start my second prototype this week using materials on hand and all factory hardware, Japanese and German. I’m looking at $0 instead of $500 for a Phil’s rack plus Givi.

Peeled the crusty ATV seat cover and then the crusty original seat cover off of my 99 TW-200 to prep for a Seat Concepts tall foam and cover replacement. The C-14 looked on curiously.01_09_21 RIDE_2.jpg

Tore down the Tupperware, promptly losing two of the small clear nylon washers (ordered a dozen to have on hand). Upcoming:
  • Brakes flush and bleed; install speed bleeders from Murph's Kits
  • Clutch flush and bleed
  • Coolant flush
  • Install rear Canyon Cages (had to take the fronts off to get at the plastic)
  • General inspection on hoses - next time around, will need to replace the coolant overflow tank's hoses. Getting a little less than supple.

Installed gas in the tank and upgraded my mood by going for a ride like I can do nearly every weekend here in balmy Central Texas.

Eupher,
I have had ‘Tupperware’ off my machine C-14 a couple of times without issue of extra or missing parts at time of reassembly. Performing the valve clearance inspection this time on undressing I dropped not one but BOTH quick rivets, that live under the windshield, somewhere into the front headlight area. Wouldn’t you know neither one hit the ground; I as well ordered a half dozen spares.

Yeah, I tried to be careful but the bloody things just seem to have a mind of their own. My "package" arrives on Monday and I'll continue my winter maintenance activities then. The only thing left is coolant flush and fill and cable lube. After that the Tupperware goes back on and I really really really hope I don't have to deal with that for the rest of the year. No matter whatcha say, it's a PITA.

i ordered headers first $285.62 and then changed my mind and ordered midpipe/muffler $218.45
fraction of the cost of area p or two brothers.

Maverick can correct me, but, I think that buying the entire BW system {as a package} would be a bit less.
"suchadeal" (y)

Ride safe, Ted

Unsure about conversion; Mebbe $425 & $470??

Fork swap and Brembo M50 caliper upgrade. Swapped in 1.2kg springs. Came off a 2017 ZX14R SE with ~2k miles. Finished the forks after work tonight, just have to reinstall the wheel and get the brakes mounted. Cleaning up the wiring for my Rigid driving light install and installing a new air filter. Taking out the K&N installed by the PO.

2. Clean the battery connections and the ground to the frame.
Yesterday adding some wiring I found my positive and negative cables to the battery not even finger tight - literally just sitting there, I am thinking dealer install 3 YRS ago never tightened!!!! I have disconnected the ground strap to the frame previously when working on the bike but I have never touched the actual battery connections..

Corrosion somehow did not take hold much. How consistent connectivity was happening I am not sure, his charging was staying solid??? Little luck goes a long way.

Cleaned and tightened all, did not have any dielectric or petroleum so will need to take it apart again and treat.
