Dominion Raceway is putting together their 2019 schedule. One of their events is Bike Attack, which is a track familiarization event. I have participated in this event and had a good time.
Dominion Raceway is located in Thornburg, Virginia, south of Fredericksburg. It is right off of I=95 at exit 118.
I have spoken with their events coordinator, and he said he'd love to have more bikes show up at their events. Heck, if we get enough people (I'm trying to nail down what number is "enough"), we may be able to have our own session of Bike Attack.
In 2018, Bike Attack was $99 per person. The mandatory gear was helmet and gloves (because cruisers can participate, there wasn't a requirement that the helmet be full-faced), though I wore a two-piece leather race suit when I attended (my MC's president was in attendance observing). Tech involved taping your glass and them inspecting your tire tread and checking your brake pads; there wasn't any safety wiring requirements (mind you this was the second Bike Attack held, and these conditions may change).
If you're interested in participating in one of these events in 2019, post up here so I can get a gauge of interest. Obviously we're waiting for the track to determine the schedule, and all of you will have scheduling interests and conflicts, but a simple "I'm interested" will do for now. If you have specific questions about the track or event, I'll do my best to answer. Hopefully this will get some of our members near Richmond, VA interested since it doesn't involve crossing the Nice Bridge and its associate toll. :great:
