dropped connie-fork seals

I dropped my concours in my driveway a couple weeks ago.No apparent damage at the time, but twice last week I found fork oil on the garage floor.Has anyone had this happen after a drop?Or is it just a coincidence? What's concerning me is;could I have bent a fork tube just laying the bike down on its side?It was a very soft landing on the left side and only the left seal is leaking.I tried the masking tape trick I found here and it seemed to work but a few days later another small leak appeared. Thanks, McGrog

Dan , I can't imagine that the drop would cause the seal to leak or damage the fork tube. I hit a mail box with the forks 2 years ago( the bike slid off the road after a low side) and have had no issues. Can you see any oil around the top of the fork tube where it attaches to the upper triple clamp? It could have leaked out when the bike was on it's side and is running down the tube. It could just be that the seals are dried out and it need of replacement. CT AAD COG #7011-A 2003 Concours-Mary Ann 1995 Honda Nighthawk 750 wifes

No way a simple drop would have caused a fork seal to leak. It was just its time that's all. Looks lke a replacement is in order. Might as well do both at the same time. And perhaps plan on a straight rate spring swap with new/clean 15W fork oil. AKA "2linby" That's 2-lin-by folks! The only way I can think the two might be related is if the bike sat inverted enough to have oil sitting on the back of the seal long enough to fill the space between it and the dust seal cap thing. Then have it not run out of there till later... kind of far fetched. Either that or something scratched the fork tube on the way down. ---------------------------------- I will answer any question. It is up to you to figure out if I should have.
