Fuel starvation

Before you automatically blame the fuel pump, Check to be sure the tank is venting properly. It vents through poppet valves in the cap. Remember, it needs to vent pressure off, and also allow air to displace the fuel as it's used.

If the tank isn't venting in use, a vacuum will build up in the tank. This will reduce the fuel volume pumped and cause starvation.

There are a couple ways to check.
1) put a key in the fuel cap, close the cap and go riding. After a while if you feel starvation, reach down and pop the tank open briefly. If the starvation dissipates, you have the culprit.
2) ride until the starvation starts, then pull over and pop the fuel cap open. if you hear the "woosh" of air rushing into the tank, you have your culprit.

The answer is to clear the poppet valves in the cap. Refer to your manual, and I also think there's info in the archives from the c-10 that is applicable. you might get lucky by spraying some wd40 or silicone back up the vent holes in the cap. Research that yourself; my purpose here is to help you get a proper diagnosis on the starvation before you go replacing the pump 1-2-3 times with no luck.

A great example of start with the cheap / simple stuff. Thanks for the reminder Steve!

J'ai carême enlevé la petite valve, il peut arriver aussi que le filtre à gaz soit bouché ;)

Steve, no doubt you're aware of the hi pressure filter shown in reply 10. Others perhaps not.
