In Search of Fall Colours

So with a week of unexpected warm dry weather after several days of rainy weather, James (jtvisions) and I headed off in search of the elusive fall foliage. Our destination was the North Cascades Highway. Getting there requires some riding along two-lane country roads that are a delight in their own right...and a chance to see the leaves turning.

Hwy 530 takes you by the site of the Oso landslide. https://www.slidememorial.com/about It's hard to get a feel for what happened by looking at the picture I took. It doesn't give a feel for having a huge portion of the mountain bury a town under 70 feet of debris.

This is on Hwy 20. I love the peaceful tranquilty of this valley with the sight of snow-covered mountains in the background.

James took me on a short detour in the town of Newhalem to visit the "Gorge". An interesting bit of info about this picture, is those trees up there above the town were on fire a few years ago. The fire came that close!

Behind the Gorge powerhouse, is the Ladder Creek Falls trail. I believe the area was created by the first superintendent and served as a play area for his two daughters. It's lit now, and in normal times, there are ranger tours.

Not easy to see, but if you look on the horizon, you can see Mt. Rainier.

The colours are not at their peak yet and the weather in the next couple weeks looks good. We could meet at Newhalem, then ride over to Twisp for a bite to eat. Then you go back home (Tri-Cities?) and I head back over the pass to go home. We'd each get a chance to ride both ways, which is always good.

Chris, wow, thanks for offer. I just got back Tuesday night from trip to Idaho, and need to get settled before I'm able to think on another trip. I'll send you a PM ... Cecil

I like your pictures very much!
Thanks for taking the time to post.
Are you posting from a Phone or a SD card?
How to I post pictures from either?
Can you or someone walk me through it please.
BTW I'm very low tech.

nickrides, the new forum software makes it very easy to post pictures. Just copy the picture, and paste it into your post.

In my case, I have pictures on my smartphone and on the Sena 10C Pro. I'll put the smartphone pics up on Google Photos using their default resolution. The photos from the Sena 10C Pro are recorded on a SD card. I'll put that SD card into my computer and then copy those up to Google Photos. Once there, you can put them into a folder to share with others, or just put them in a folder to keep things organized.

Whether you put your photos up somewhere like Google Photos, or just transfer them to your home computer, the rest of the process is the same. View the picture. Copy the picture. Open your post in your browser. Paste it in where you want it. It's not complicated on this forum software like it is on other forums.
