i have a 2000 w/54,000 miles i went for a ride up to the grumps in ny state and at the top of the mountain my bike would not start. I turned on the ingition hit the starter and lost all power, got of the bike and gave her a good kick and she started up next time i hit the starter. nice down the bottem i stopped and same problem so i checked fuses all good moved all the wiring around and un pluged the master fuse and repluged it, the bike started up. not a problem since it has been 3 weeks. now i think of it every time i ride, would the problem come from the soldering problem i have read of. or just a thing. have noticed a slow start now when i hit the starter as if the battery is low. but it is new,

I say when it will not start carefully check each area known to be a problem one at a time without disturbing the next. That way you know which one is the problem. Side stand switch, Clutch switch, neutral switch, Jbox and starter switch are all known to dirty up and be problems. Just hold the start switch down and wiggle or tap each till it starts. Here is a guy that will send you an improved rebuilt Jbox if you send yours back. http://www.bucksporttouring.com/ Photos[/url]

The ignition switch on my 52,000 mile 2006 connie went bad shortly after I installed a higher wattage beam and additional side lights through the ingnition switch "on" side. I now suggest not make any wiring attachments to the ignition switch. My lights have their own switch now... oh, ignition switches will go bad without any accessory help. Also, if your bike has intermittent problems with this, learn how to short out the ignition circuit at the fuse box for a quick ride home to make the real fix. :)

thanks, over the winter i think i will do a clean and check of the electrics.shorting out the ignition circuit at the fuse box, could you explain a little bit please, andy
