Scooter riding in Greece

I got to spend 2 weeks in Greece this spring
My son and I rented scooters on the Islands of Mykonis, Naxos and Santorini.
While it was fun to get out and ride, I was disappointed at the scooter experience overall.
They were plenty fast and had good disc brakes, but...
Riding with your feet together wasn't the best IMHO.
The auto trans wasn't much fun.
That said it was cheap $40/24 hr period, so you could get 2 half days in for 40 bucks if you wanted.
The roads were quiet and in good condition.
Naxos Has mountains and is pretty big.
No normal motorcycles to rent thou for tourists.
That said
A fun cheap culture heavy Vaca could be had by going in the spring off season like we did and bring the bare minimum of clothes, get off the plane and rent scooters and live off them for a week or 2.
Solo or in a small group would be alot of inexpensive fun.
I give Greece the 2 thumbs up in the off season, not too hot, great food, nice people and accommodations without breaking the bank.
