For me, the destination is often the ride...as well as the "destination". It was no different for this year's National Rally in Bernalillo, New Mexico.
My route generally took me along what I would consider some "bucket list" locations. Highway 12 in Idaho is a must ride if you're in the area. It leaves Lewiston, ID and follows a twisting Clearwater River to Kamiah where a good place to stay is the Lewis & Clark KOA where we hold the annual Bun Cooler. Follow along that, and you'll end up on the road to Lolo Pass. Just be sure to have a pretty full gas tank, because there's no services for about a hundred miles. Just winding road on good pavement and little traffic.
From there, I went south and headed for Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons. Followed the Million Dollar Highway...and had no traffic through it! Woo-hoo! And then finally into Bernalillo. So here's some of the pictures.

Mammoth Hot Springs, Yellowstone.
Buffy at The Grand Tetons. I was going through Yellowstone a few years ago and had one of those guys take severe umbrage at my motorcycle. He turned around on this narrow dirt road and decided to chase me. Meanwhile, the SUV ahead of me decided to stop to watch the motorcyclist (me) get gored. Luckily, they decided to not expose their kids to the bloodshed and moved and the buffalo decided he had chased me off.
