Drop #1: Summer day, back country road ride to the shop for general maintenance. Approached four-way stop with slight incline. "Tourist" (saw the license plate) vehicle looking at something in field to my right, approaching stop at a snail's pace. I got to stop first...or so I thought. Started to pull out and tourist vehicle screams through without stopping, almost seemed like they were going to biker points. Two options...get T-boned by a speeding SUV or lock it up & drop her. I went from a vertical position to smacking the road in a millisecond. Results? Connie: Scuffed fairing, foot peg, clutch lever. Me: three cracked ribs, knock to the head, scuffed helmet, a night in the ER, and a couple days off from work! Drop #2: Bad weather day. Came home from work and saw my Connie laying flat on her right side, gas all over ground. Cover was on it. Filed a police report, but nothing came of it. Was it the wind? Was it kids fooling around? (we have some bad kids in the neighborhood) Results: Connie: smashed side mirror, scuffed fairing, cracked lower cowling. Me: Various cuts to hands cleaning up the glass and an afternoon replacing the side mirror without directions. I can hear Bill Engvall now saying "Here's your [number]"
