WOW! Cal-Sci Windshield
« on: August 18, 2011, 07:15:21 PM »
:)Got home from the office and a box from Cal-Sci was waiting.

After dinner, I installed the medium sized windshield and took a quick 20 mile ride up the interstate and all I can say is that I stand corrected. I didn't think it possible that any single change to my C14 could make as much improvement as the Spencer's seat mod. Wrong. The new windshield makes a HUGE difference. At 70 I can ride with my helmet shield full open and the windshield in the full up position and hear the front tire on the road. I am 5'11" and if I raise my head just a fraction, the wind is buffeting just an 1/2" or so above me. If you are 6' tall or more, I might suggest the large shield, but that is probably a personal preference thing - just my .02.

Another benefit - when fully up with the OEM windshield it almost felt like there was negative pressure on my chest. My understanding is that the keyhole in the Cal-Sci eliminates the turbulence behind the windshield, and I guess that also alleviates the negative pressure sensation.

Thanks Necron for the recommendation! Fantastic investment in comfort.

Cal-Sci is a great example of a guy turning his hobby into a solid business. Had a windshield on my '03 ST1300 that made a great deal of difference....made the switch even faster after I bought my '10 Concours.....just a touch under 6-1 and accepted Mark's advice in getting the XL.....8000 miles on it at all speeds and conditions....

Ok, Frank, with the XL, how is it in 100+ degree heat and the window fully down? Hot? Or, do you still get some air?

You only needed to look in the Farkle directory at the top of the page to find it. That's what it's there for.  ;)

Lots of people miss or forget about it! So I remind someone now and then. Hopefully it reminds others at the same time. You just got to be one of my reminder victims!  :))

I love my Cee Baileys Euro but I actually think the Cal Sci shield is better looking.

Wally, I don't keep it down often, due to the noise created by the fairings itself, but up or down, over 100 or cool, I have been happy....and no comparison, for me, to the stock windshield.

Jagman...try the CalSci and you'll think it's better performing too.  Just saying.  :)

I adore mine, and I've tried the Cee Baily for over 1000 miles.  Don't get me wrong, it's better than stock.  Just not better than CalSci.
