2010 C1400 tech hold

My 2010 Concours is sittin in a warehouse in New Jersey on 'tech hold'. Dealer doesn't why. Anyone in the loop know why?

Seems like it should be the dealers job to find out why. If no help here try email tech-ed@cog-online.org Photos[/url]

I haven't heard of any problems other than a finicky glove box latch. I'll nose around and see what I can find out.

I'm checking with Kawasaki. They told me that the term "tech hold" gets used for a variety of things, so I don't have any specifics on what it is all about just yet.

Honestly this is a euphemism for it was "damaged in transit". I'd make sure everything is freaking perfect before accepting the delivery. Shiite happens, but that doesn't mean you have to accept it either. AKA "2linby" That's 2-lin-by folks! For now don't be too hard on the dealership. By law if Kawasaki has a recall on the C14 AND you haven't picked up the bike yet the recall must be performed by the dealership BEFORE the bike is released to the customer. Ask the dealership for the technical reference # Kawasaki is using to hold up the delivery of the bike. If you find out that Kawasaki doesn't have any existing recalls be sure to tell the dealership that you don't appreciated them jerking you around.

I really wonder if it has something to do with the recent u-joint failures that are coming to light on the 'other' forum? Mick Tucson

As of yesterday, my dealer finally received an invoice (with the VIN nbr) which means it's finally been picked up and headed their way. We never found out why it was on tech hold. There was even some question about whether or not it had ever really been on tech hold. As this thread indicates, it coulda been anything. Regardless of the reason, it took either Mama Kaw or the local distributor roughly 3 weeks to get it from the Eastern distr center in NJ onto a truck headed my way. Coulda even been held up before it got to the distr center (on the docks). I ain't gonna hold my breath waiting to find out why. Just trilled to find out it's no longer a vapor bike. :)
