This is the third annual ride (none of them the same), and those that are in the know, mark this one on their calendar as a don't miss!  When Russell and Greg argued 3 years ago over which one has the best roads to ride on, we all win.  Download the GPS route for the 2019 version, and take a look to see what they came up with when they work together.  :motonoises:  :great:

Greg and Russell’s Back Yard of Favorite Roads

Where were you guys??  The forecast was not that great for Greg and Russell’s Back Yard of Favorite Roads ride. Waking up Sunday morning, the radar showed the obvious front rolling though with rain and temps in the lower 40’s.  Knowing the curvy mountains roads, it was going to be an interesting ride. Six hearty never-say-quit hard-core riders rolled into the Dillsburg Sheetz in heavy rain nearly at the same time. We waited for more riders to roll in while hogging a couple of pumps for shelter, and no more riders showed. Note that Greg and Russell’s Favorite Roads Ride will now be known as Russell’s Favorite Roads, since someone was missing, likely dry and laughing at us?  Four regulars and two riders on their first COG ride set out to take on the roads.

It was challenging riding with the roads being relentlessly curved, that tested our exit and entry speed skills.  Officially, that rain blob on the radar passed through, but the day featured what can only be described as a relentless mist downpour. It was light enough to not be called rain, but heavy enough to keep us soaked and the roads challenging. Going over the mountain passes the temps dropped to 37.  The lunch at Skeeters was great with good conversation about rain gear and the differences between waterproof and water resistant. The roads and scenery were fantastic (if it could be seen), so this ride will be rescheduled so more can enjoy it.  Is anybody interested in rescheduling this ride??

We had intended to come up. But Sunday morning forecast a 2 hour ride in the rain just to get to the start, with high temp in the low fifty's curvy wet roads, and a three hour ride home. Instead of a 7:00 am start we waited until 11:00 and turned South not North.

Congrats to the riders that went.

No worries, since that makes total sense.  When we stopped after first riding 70 miles and were soaked, Russell says we have 70 more miles.  Do you guys want to cut it short?  and then adds with an evil grin.....You know some of the best roads are coming up.  So what do we do, we finish the ride.  :motonoises:

Had a great time regardless of the rain & losing traction with my front tire twice   , hard to see those tar snakes on pretty fresh looking pavement in the rain  :( , the food was very good & would love to tackle those roads dry on a nice sunny day ( maybe we'll even let Greg join in  :rotflmao:

I keep wanting to make more rides but have had schedule conflicts so far.  I would be interested.  My calendar isn't looking too friendly coming up, but maybe I'd get lucky?
