Because it's friggen hot here. Any interest in a late night (start around midnight) full moon run around Lake Mead? Nor AZ, So NV members? You know how the desert landscape changes at night and if were lucky it will be below 90 deg's F. There should be some pretty awesome scenery. And you can get some seat time without shriveling like a raisin. Whaddya think? If there's interest I'll plan it.

Sounds like fun.  What's the loop configuration.  Too hot to ride in the daytime, I'm going out tomorrow morning around 3:00 AM and will be back in the barn by 8:00 AM and hibernate in the A/C cave.

Thinking about hopping into Lake Mead from Boulder City, Around the lake to Overton and back. Proly about 3 hrs RT. 3 or 4a start time.

Yeah, that would work as we'd be back in Boulder at 7:00 AM and in the barn/AC cave no later than 9:00 AM.  Where to meet, Rail Road Casino???  Any neat out of the way places to eat breakfast along the way back???

While sitting in the AC in Newhall and my outside thermometer reads 108* I read your post and it just struck me as a fantastic idea. So with such short notice I have organized a 4am ride to see the sunrise over Santa Barbara  ( this time of the year it rises so south it appears over the water ) and breakfast at Solvang. Should be back by 9 am. Never would have thought of it!  THANKS

Sounds sweet David. Bert, I'll check when the next full moon is.

I would be interested, but you're starting right as I usually go to bed!

???
I was hoping you'd pop in here. You can grab a nap later  :).

Why wait until the night time?    ;D

I was hoping for history yesterday, but the official temp at Furnace Creek was actually only 129...  The Ole 97 only got a tiny bit over half-way on the temperature gauge.  The rider required 45 minutes of AC, ice water and a couple ice teas at the halfway point (65 miles one way).

Brian, looks like your flame retardant jacket got a little scorched around the collar, back of the arms and cuffs on reentry.  There's a British saying...something about "mad dogs and Englishmen go out in the midday's sun".  What part of England did you say you came from?

Cojones my friend, fried cojones...sunny side up.

I just had to do it.  I'm only an hour away and if they had made history (Even 130 would have been the highest temp since the 134 in 1913) I would have really regretted not being there.

Plus, all the northern guys get to post up their pics of Connies in the snow.  Time for us desert rats to get a little equal time.

I'm keeping an eye on the schedule for the midnight ride and will join in if I can.

I think the hottest I've ever experienced has probably been around 118.  I'd like to see what 130 feels like..........for about 19 seconds or so.  ;D
