Gonna have to replace my rear Avon before the trip to Fontana in June. The storm on the front is holding up well and has a lot of life left in it. I liked the Avon but it seemed to wear out reletively quick, which is my only complaint, and thought I'd try something known to have a little more longevity like a Metz. Anybody know a reason why you can't or shouldn't use another tire as long as it's the proper size and a construction?

I've done it for about the last 30K miles without any ill effects that I can detect. They've recently discontinued the C907 that I've been using on the rear (OEM front) so I'm looking at maybe a Shinko on the rear with a BT021 up front. http://www.amazon.com/Shinko-777-Rear-Tire-80H-16/dp/B001TGRNMM I guess if you corner hard and live in an area with lots O twisties my advice would best be ignored.

I used to say, never, never, never....then I did and now I say cheap, cheap cheap. I'm tarred of buying tars all the time at over $100 a pop. So I'm doing the cheap thing and have my econd CHen Shing rear and old Michelin 89X on the front (thank you Dan) I got over 11k out of the last one so for less than $60.00 the deal is sealed. If'n I had a sport bike and the ability to actually use it to 100% I'd probably be saying otherwise, but after 124K on the Connie cheap is looking better and better. You guys just convinced me. I'm in the same boat as Tinsailor. I love the Avons but the rear just goes too fast. The front Storm is in great shape and should go much longer so I'll be replacing the rear with something that will last. '02 Connie COG # 6662 Dallas, Tx

End of an era, if you find some C907's let me know ASAP. From another website: Thank you for contacting Maxxis International. As of January 1, 2009, Maxxis and Cheng Shin street motorcycle tires will be discontinued in the U.S. and Canada. Maxxis and Cheng Shin off-road motorcycle and scooter tires are unaffected by this change, as are tires in other categories including ATV, passenger, light truck, and bicycle. Unfortunately, it might be best for you to look for another brand as the Detours are probably getting more difficult to find. Thank you for your loyalty and sorry for any inconvenience. Sincerely, Scott Perkins, Maxxis.
