Need help with Sportster Ignition

I am helping a friend with a 2003 Sportster 883. The bike has a rebuilt carb and new battery and fired right up and ran great. The next time I went to ride it the engine just cranked with the starter and I am getting no spark. Can anyone give me some troubleshooting tips?
