Neutral Safety Switch Question

David, the switch is a safety feature on the bike, You should not disable it but repalce the switch, if necessary. The engine should stop if you engage a gear with the side stand down. This is a main safety item. Search the internet for other biker trouble reports, and you will find this is sometimes a problem for other bike models. A short usually means you need to change the part. The operators manual should brief you on how the side stand cutoff switch works.

David, Mine went bad on my '04. I used electrical contact cleaner on it with so-so results. I have an extended warranty so I called up the dealer and he ordered me a new one - it's been working fine since. Thanks Donald & Sean, I'll get the bike over to the dealer and have the switch replaced. That's what I figured but just wanted to check in with others first. Dave
