Ninja cams?

Just thinking in theoreticals, maybe a possibility one day...seeing as how my warranty cams were damaged by the dealership on install and they too will probably go bad soon.... Can I use Ninja cams in the Connie with all else stock? If not, what would I have to change to run Ninja cams? Which Ninja cams could I use, years/models?

84-85 gpz900; 86-87 zx1000A. you'll get more top end, lower rpm roll on's suffer. definitely use one of my advanced sprockets on the exhaust and the round holes on the intake, OR the connie Ex cam and zx int cam is a nice combo. Not so much midrange loss, and still +7 - 8 hp up top. you will have to be careful on the throttle and low rpm, not as forgiving as the connie cams. Ah, I see. The Connie gives me all the top end I want the then some, but I don't want to give up any of her grunt down low. She's still my main commuter and grocery-getter, and I need everything the big girl has got when traffic gets sticky. How the heck to you learn all this anyway?! Thanks!

well, I build engines for my living, and I've been messing with these cams on my connies for about the past 3.5 years. Steve Shleper of the 7th gear unit and performance exhaust cam sprockets. My bike - "SHOODABEN" - 1109cc's of what an 04 concours "shoodaben"!

Well at least I know now. So plan "A" of having the cams in it hardened properly by the company in Canada is still the best route for me.... Thanks again!

SISF is one of those guys (thankgoodness) that just has to see if something can't be made better..prime example is the 7th gear mod......Steve didn't just THINK about it ....he DID something about it. And I WILL someday get the $$$ to get one for my '01....I for one am so very grateful that it was the C10 Concours that he chose (or vice-versa) to improve upon. Makes my owning one even mo' bettah !

Hey thanks for the kind words. If you knew me, you'ld realise I'm just more of a mad scientist than an engineer. I'm also not very bright, I'm to dumb to believe folks when they tell me something "can't be done", or it "won't work". And trust me, I spend alot of time doing stuff that doesn't work out so well. At least I then know for myself what "won't work". Steve Shleper of the 7th gear unit and performance exhaust cam sprockets. My bike - "SHOODABEN" - 1109cc's of what an 04 concours "shoodaben"!

SISF reminds me of Thomas Edison. When developing the light bulb he went through hundreds of materials that wouldn't work but didn't consider any of them failures, just materials that wouldn't work so he didn't need to consider them aagin.
