I knew this day would eventually come, but I actually expected it a long time ago. My Shorai Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4) battery in my Concours has given up the ghost. It was installed new in the fall of 2010. I only started putting a charger on it the last 6 months or so, because it was starting to show signs of getting weak. Today it finally failed to start. Prior to that, I never put a trickle charger on it, even over the winter. At 12 years old, it makes this the longest lasting battery I've ever owned in any vehicle, and the least amount of maintenance I've ever done on one.
I'll be replacing it with another Shorai LiFePO4. Maybe in 2034 I'll come back and report how its holding up.
