That's a three-week trip! Not only is the location great, but the routes look great getting to/from there.

The whole area is absolutely rock-solid and better yet it’s geographically diverse.

This event will be awesome!

No need to take 3 weeks to join the event, however, all who attend will wish they did!

Here's some semi insider info from a guy whose been to.that area a few times. (My mom lives in Albuquerque) Albuquerque p.d. doesn't play, watch your speed especially on Coors. That'll be one of the main north/south routes leading to the hotel. Heads on a swivel Coors is a multilane roadway in both directions with alot of good places to eat, and drivers who don't pay attention. Speaking of which, eating, don't hesitate to get a green chili burger! Or green chili anything, made with roasted Hatch chili 's. It's so good. You may also get it Christmas style, red and green and it's also delish!

Sandia tramway is a must do. Beautiful ride up to the summit. Gotta hit.Rt 66 thru Albuquerque, still.some businesses still in operation on the Olde strip. Sante fe and Toas are just a short ride from rally headquarters and have alot to offer in history, culture and scenic beauty. In short y'all are gonna love it there!

Four days minimum to get there. 4-5 days for the rally. And who knows how long to get back home?

Let's see...I did a quick Google Maps search and turned off freeways.

- Hwy 12 along the Clearwater River and then Lolo Pass.
- Then there's the Tetons. Not much there unless you like hiking. I like hiking. :)
- All the routes in this quick search pass through Utah. Five national parks. Each one unique. Each one worth a trip of their own.
- And we haven't even talked about heading south on Hwy 101 before detouring to New Mexico.

I could see a month being appropriate for this rally. :D The destination is the ride, and this ride could be incredible.

This will be epic!

Amazing country out west, so much to see… A person could spend the entire summer riding all over and it would not seem longer than a blink of an eye!

We will be on a more compressed timeline, likely 3 days out, 3 days back, event. As you rightfully noted the destination IS the ride, our ride there will be slabbing - and I’m ok with that.

Just my humble opinion.
I think Montrose Colorado would be a potentially epic base to host the National Rally
Limitless epic loops out of there in ALL directions.
You can go High or low.
Most of the best riding in Colorado is here.
Rural roads in good shape, no citys nearby.
Lightly traveled roads, few cops.
3-4 Moto shops in town.
Affordable rooms. Big enough but not too big.
Good food.
Modestly hi altitude about 5600' MSL
Late September would be best
People seemed to like Cortez Co.
Cortez is a hellhole compared to Montrose, just saying.

Finally booked my room. Can't wait for this... my first National and well, my first real motorcycle road trip. Currently gearing up and trying to get my body in condition for the journey.

See you all there.

From where we live it's 900 miles of I-40 with no feasible way to make it any better. With that said, you have to get your mind right because 900 miles of I-40 sucks in a big way. It's no fun anyway you look at it, I've done it plenty of times & still have to get in the right frame of mind.

Hopefully it doesn't sour you!

Me too Ted. Unfortunately I spent 2 days waiting for a rear tire! Seems someone forgot to tell the local kawasaki dealer there's gonna be 100 c10's coming to town and some might need tires...

My buddy and i.enjoyed Montrose so .much, we came back 4 times between 2002 and 2020.

I love the national rallys!!!

Thanks for the advice, guess it's time to pull out the atlas and start plotting courses. The trip there I am planning on a fairly direct route, but hoping to avoid the interstate as much as possible. The ride home I'm going to take some detours and see what i can find. Although, during our move back to Arkansas from Oregon, I realized there's not much to see along this stretch of the country... at least not following I-40, unless you count wind turbines.
