do others locktite the adjusters on your valves, i never have but it seems like it might be a good idea. if so what color locktite do you use?

I don't think you could get the parts clean enough to locktite them. Using the proper torque value should be good enough. Dave Muir 1980 LTD1000 - Rocket 1999 Concours - Rocket II 1997 Dyna - wife's CT-COG #3649 Merchandise Czar

Ron, You really would not want to do that. (locktite on the 'adjusters') I just tighten those nuts good and snug enough, and have never had a problem. There are torque values for those nuts that many follow. Experts will come along here and explain this all better than me, but you don't want loose 'junk' = locktite in that motor to gum up the oil passages. John Hoogewerf

Rob,,No locktite. It will be a big pain when you need to readjust. Proper torque is just fine but be careful not to overtighten the lock nuts or you can damage the threads on the adjuster studs. I do 2 things after a valve adjust. I spin the engine a few turns with the starter and run through the valves with a feeler gauge to be sure they are all correct then I go back and check the locknuts to be sure they are all tight, not retighting them but just touching them with the wrench to be sure they are tight. Its workied for 29 years for me. ;) CT AAD COG #7011-A 2003 Concours-Mary Ann 1995 Honda Nighthawk 750 wifes

ok, got it. like i said I never have used it myself. having performed the operation numerous times on various cars and bike, including a 71 Trident which needed it monthly. it looks like whoever did in on my concours last time use locktite so it got me wondering
