Water pump has the weepys

So was doing some maintenance today (Oil, final drive fluid, brake/clutch fluid) and noticed a drip under the bike when she was running. Seems to be coolant so pulled the left side fairing and lo and behold the water pump is dripping out of the weep hole..grrr

Ordered a new one from Ron Ayers (Hope it gets here in time for the NE Fall Rally) along with the left side hoses and all the O -Rings etc.

Had a squiz at the tech manual and the replacement doesn't look too awful difficult, but I am somewhat confused by the bleeding procedure. It says to fill the bike, leave rad cap off, start engine and "tap on the hoses" until the level goes down and keep topping off as needed... Ooookaaayy.. :)

Was wondering, has anyone ever used one of those vacuum cooling system fill thingies on a connie? Seems like it would simplify a few things :)
TIA

There was a thread on here a week or 2 ago about a hit running bike burping coolant out on shutdown. They talked about filling system and proper bleeding oit of air...
